REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:    Executive Vice President

This position is responsible for setting the direction for Foodservice worldwide, acting as the QSR product owner.  The key metrics are long term sustainable profits, customer satisfaction, maintenance of value leadership over competition, and expansion into new applications and markets.    Responsibilities include:

  • Identification and implementation of new applications, markets, and products
  • Customer value management (including product enhancements)
  • Product and market strategy development
  • Strategic profitability management
  • Tactical support coordination

This position requires active coordination with Global Sales Directors, Director of Foodservice Sales, Strategic Account Executives, and the Innovation and Development Center.


New Applications, Markets, and Products Implementation

  • Identifies and coordinates entry into opportunities for new applications and markets for existing products and new products servicing existing markets
    • Understands the production capability and capacity of existing facilities to optimize impact
    • Determine customers’ needs and desires through research and onsite customer visits
    • Brings new products and new applications to market by defining proposed product and market development requirements; preparing return-on-investment analyses; orchestrating the required resources and focus; insuring multi-functional (sales, development, production, distribution, marketing) and timely implementation
    • Creates organizational excitement for the effort
  • Attend customer trade shows, conventions, trade association meetings as required
  • Works with all internal and external resources to insure regulatory requirements are met and regulatory barriers are removed to open new markets

Customer Value Management

  • Understand and enhance the customer use experience
  • Insure development and implementation of programs to improve product utilization (compliance)
  • Maintain active competitive intelligence in order to:
    • Maintain value leadership
    • Develop counter tactics and strategy
    • Provide quarterly management global assessment
    • Provide sales organization with specific competitive product comparison
  • Manage the customer value proposition
    • Determine the relative competitive positioning of the value proposition
    • Develop and approve all customer value propositions
    • Conduct an annual review of DGA performance vs the value proposition
  • Recommend the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications, quality standards and requirements, appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes

Product and Market Strategy Development

  • Develop and maintain performance against a strategic product plan and life cycle management to insure long term competitive and profit vitality
  • Provide ownership for all new and enhanced product programs proposed for investment in the Innovation and Development Center
    • Identify project prioritization
    • Specify requirements, guardrails and scope
    • Provide oversight to all programs under development
  • Define product marketing communication objectives
    • Coordinate all market communication development, including literature, trade shows, social media, web site, and direct communication of all types
  • Maintain industry connectivity and assessment of industry and customer use trends, identifying strategic responses as necessary
  • Develop coverage and market targeting strategies, in collaboration with the Global Sales Directors and Strategic Account Executives
    • Conduct quarterly reviews and exchanges with Directors
  • Collaborate with Foodservice equipment suppliers and key customer technical departments to identify and met current and future expectations

Strategic Profitability Management

  • Recommend product pricing by utilizing market research data; review production and sales costs; anticipate volume; cost for special and customized orders; with input from both Global sales Directors and Strategic Account executives
  • Review product line and major customer profitability to identify variances from goal

Tactical Support Coordination

  • Coordinate enabling processes and resources outside of the direct control of the Global Sales Directors which are required to support local sales efforts
  • Provide coordination and processes for the “New Customer” demonstration and evaluation process
  • Obtain product market share by working with sales directors to develop product sales strategies.
    • Assesses product market data by calling on customers with field salespeople and evaluating sales call results
  • Oversee customer satisfaction by setting performance standards including:
    • Inventory goal expectations and logistics approaches
      • Facilitates internal inventory turnover and product availability by reviewing and adjusting inventory goals
    • Technical support response
    • Provides information for management by coordinating short-term and long-term product sales forecasts (S&OP)
    • Insure development and presentation to the customer of annual tactical & strategic business plans for each “A” customer
  • Coordinate labeling and packaging requirements
  • Approve and coordinate implementation of all special customer requirements
  • Identify training needs of all internal, channel, and customer personnel for proper sale and implementation of the Foodservice value proposition
    • Coordinates the development and delivery of required training
  • Provide backup technical support for Technical Services by acting as high level expert upon formal problem escalation
    • Oversight of customer complaints to insure fast customer problem resolution


  • Foodservice industry experience
  • 4 year degree in related field
  • Proven working experience in product management
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle
  • Proven ability to develop product and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience
  • Strong problem solving skills and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams in a matrix organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Skilled at conducting exploratory customer needs visitations
  • Demonstrated ability to provide and integrate strategic vision with tactical practicality
  • Demonstrated project coordination capability
  • Ability to assess training needs
  • Conduct oneself as representative of company’s Core Values
  • Ability to provide extensive global travel (>50%)
